An artist’s interpretation of a novel. This book accompanies Lisa Wigham’s installation The Waiting Room, which was commissioned for Preston Guild 2012. Set in the British Isles in the early 20th century, this book charts a voyage through the mundane and the sensational. It presents visions, scenes, acts, conversations, interior thoughts and changing notions. The story jumps from location to location as it recalls adventures and misadventures from working men’s clubs, supper clubs, windswept promenades or a Lakeland island. Purposeful juxtapositions of darkly comic or poetic text create a brief intense relationship with each page.
