Culture on the Move

In Certain Places is launching a new publication titled Culture on The Move, by Emeritus Professor Charles Quick, edited my Dr John Scanlan and designed by Vicky Carr of Textbook Studio.

For the past ten years In Certain Places has been exploring and developing new models of temporary community cultural infrastructure, with the latest iteration being the MET (Mobile Event Tent). This publication reveals and explores our journey by focusing on this one project in detail while giving an overview of all the related (ICP) projects that have had a direct relationship with it. We examine and reveal the different aspects of creating and using this mobile arts centre, its impact on the communities it has visited, its historical context, and the commissioning and design. It is not a one-off project but rather the latest in a long line of cultural infrastructure projects that we have developed over many years.

This publication includes essays by the researcher Dr Rebecca Roke who is the author of the best-selling titles Nanotecture (2016) and Mobitecture (2017), and an essay by Steve Slack originally produced for the online arts publication Corridor8.
