This year was the first time the MET, Preston’s fully equipped mobile art centre had visited the west side of Preston. During July It was located on the car park of St Bernard’s Larches and Savick Community Hub. Emma Caffrey of the hub worked in partnership with us and Preston City Council as the community facilitator to host our most ambitious programme so far with 42 events over the 25 days it was open, attended by 1,750 people.
One reason for its success this year was the decision to organise community focus groups enabling many more community members to have an input into the design of the programme. The surrounding community had a strong sense of ownership and spoke about the MET bringing people together.
