Feed

Feed is an collaborative project which promotes inclusive, sustainable approaches to infant feeding and public space. Working with cultural venues, public health teams, artists and communities, we want to create opportunities for people to share their experiences and to expand understandings of human milk and mothering.

Launched in summer 2022, the project has included a public event at Whitworth Gallery, Manchester, and the creation of a multimedia feeding chair, which between November 2023 and January 2026,  we will tour to: The Tetley (Leeds), Leeds Art Gallery, Ikon (Birmingham), Arnolfini (Bristol), Woodend Gallery (Scarborough), Chapter Arts (Cardiff), Harris Museum, Art Gallery & Library (Preston) and Gallery of Modern Art (Glasgow).

At each venue, the chair will be accompanied by a programme of creative activities and events, exploring issues of public space, gender and human milk.

The tour will also include:

— 7 creative and critical writing commissions published by Corridor8.
— An artist-in-residence project at Ikon.
— 3 new contemporary art commissions.

We have also produced two limited edition publications, which include artworks and essays about public space, gender and human milk and are available to purchase here.
