The Earth is a beautiful place and as a race we often forget this, creating more and more waste and pollution.
Lucy Ashley’s work focused on the beauty of nature and the environmental issues caused by the human race; both a battle and a harmonious interaction with nature.
In a project manifested in the installation ‘Waves’, Lucy focused on the ocean and its power over the human mind and body. She used pseudoscientific methods to capture the beauty and dominance of the ocean and took samples of the beach through plaster casting. Lucy also found she needed to be fully submerged and at mercy to the ocean to experience its power, so she walked out into the breakwater and documented this through film.
