‘Architecture for the Masses’ talk by James Shen
People’s Architecture Office worked with In Certain Places to develop The People’s Canopy, a temporary architectural intervention designed to encourage greater movement and exchange between the Preston city centre and the University of Central Lancashire campus. This talk by James Shen marks the first stage of the project and offers a chance to find out more about People’s Architecture Office.
James Shen is a product designer, architect and co-founder of People’s Architecture Office. Previously, he was a furniture designer at Donald Chadwick and Associates, and Project Architect at Atelier FCJZ, where he led the design of villas for the Next Gene-20 Project in Aodi, Taiwan, a Research Laboratory for Novartis’s Shanghai Campus, and the Shenzhen Media Group Tower.
James is the recipient of an MIT Graduate Merit Award (2007), MIT Merit Scholarship (2004) and an American Institute of Architects Scholarship (2004). He received a Master of Architecture from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a Bachelor of Science in Product Design from California State University, Long Beach, and studied at the Bartlett School of Architecture at the University College London.
