Bonnie Craig is an artist and designer who works predominantly with pattern. Her practice explores the use of existing pattern and decorative detail in architecture and involves applying pattern to different places and contexts, resulting in site-specific installations and interventions. The patterns respond to the history, function, audience and location of the place they are designed for; a process that promotes pattern from being ‘merely’ decoration – an afterthought – to being the design or artwork itself – a carefully considered and crafted piece, specific to its situation and context.
Bonnie has a BA in Music and Visual Art from the University of Brighton and an MA in Surface Pattern from UCLan.
Bonnie is presenting work as part of the Open House event on 12 – 18th June, to celebrate the launch of the Hannah Directory – an annual publication and website, profiling some of the most interesting and inspiring cultural projects in the north of England.
